FAWM Quarterly Webinar Series No. 12

title slide for FAWM Webinar Vector Control

Infectious diseases are a leading cause of illness in those traveling and working in remote and austere settings, with traveler's diarrhea causing illness in up to 70% of travelers in some regions.  Vector-borne illnesses remain a leading cause of worldwide morbidity and mortality- an estimated 1/7 people currently alive will ultimately die as a result of a mosquito-borne illness.  This webinar will cover the most common causes of infectious diseases in travelers with a focus on traveler's diarrhea and insect-borne infections.  We'll discuss how to recognize, diagnose, and treat the most common vector-borne and gastrointestinal diseases experienced by travelers, and most importantly, how to prevent and protect against these illnesses on an individual and a large scale.
