To begin your pursuit of the DiMM, click on the blue "Enroll" button above to enroll as a DiMM candidate by submitting the deposit. Unless notified otherwise, you should then register as a DiMM candidate (instead of "Doctoral" or "Non-Doctoral", etc.) for the WMS Winter and/or Summer Conference(s). You must complete one of the DiMM didactic sessions based around the Summer or Winter Conference before attending either of the DiMM field sessions. If you have questions about this unique and special opportunity, please contact Teri at 801-990-2988.
1. Participants should have some experience with technical glacier mountaineering (i.e. roped travel on glaciers) and backcountry snow camping.
2. Physical fitness requirements: The alpine session on Mt Rainier is very physically demanding. Specifically, this will involve carrying heavy packs, camping and traveling on snow in bad conditions.
3. We strongly recommend that students attend a rock rescue session prior an alpine session.
