WMS Dive and Environmental Medicine Conference

Cayman Brac Beach Resort
Cayman Islands

OCTOBER 6 - 13, 2018

The academic program will focus on core and emerging issues in diving medicine with emphasis on the latest scientific literature in the field. The structure features interactive lectures and case presentations, and extensive opportunities for informal time with faculty and program participants.
Course topics include:

  • Fundamentals of diving safety
  • Medical and physical fitness to dive
  • Physiology and pathophysiology of immersion and diving
  • Emerging diving technologies and practice
  • Extreme diving environments
  • Hyperbaric medicine for diving and non-diving diseases

The course is designed primarily for physicians, but all medical and para-medical personnel and diving professionals with an interest in dive medicine and science will find the course valuable.

The Cayman Brac Beach Resort brings together the meeting room, restaurant, dive shop, and dive boats to accommodate the full daily schedule. The single restaurant promotes maximum interaction between participants and faculty. This allows for a continuation of exchanges throughout the day. The all-inclusive meal package excludes alcohol to foster both a relaxed feel and best practice for diving. There is a hyperbaric unit on the island, useful both as an educational tool and in case of medical need.
