Physical activity is encouraged for a healthy pregnancy and many pregnant individuals still participate in outdoor activities for work or recreation.  The physiologic changes during pregnancy and the need to care for both the pregnant person and fetus simultaneously provide unique considerations in rural or austere environment. This presentation aims to provide a general framework around a variety of topics including: pre-trip planning, activity modifications, counseling for altitude trips, trauma management, and prevention, management and outcomes of unwanted animal encounters. After this presentation hopefully you will no longer think “OMG! She’s pregnant” when encountering a pregnant person with a wilderness medical condition.
