Conference Scholarships

This scholarship exists to help ease the financial burden of attending the bi-annual WMS conferences, for those currently in-training. This scholarship is intended for WMS members who are currently in training (ie: students in healthcare fields, ACP fellows, or resident physicians). Conferences provide many valuable educational and networking opportunities and attending a conference can significantly impact the future career of our members in-training. We are grateful for the commitment to advancing the field of wilderness medicine and the careers of our members-in-training through generous scholarship donations.

Here are testimonials from some of our recent scholarship recipients:

"I gained a tremendous amount of clinical and outdoors knowledge from this conference, and I’m inspired to keep learning!"

"I left feeling excited about all the ways I might be able to get involved with this community in the future. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend this conference!"

"I had an amazing time at this year’s WMS Winter Conference; the connections I made and knowledge gained are invaluable."

"The WMS provides inherent mentorship which is crucial for young medical professionals unsure of their future path. I attended the mentorship meeting where we learned what makes a good mentee-mentor relationship and I had the opportunity to mingle with others. It was awesome to make connections with like-minded individuals and garner advice from those who have been part of wilderness medicine for years."

"Attending the 2023 WMS Summer Conference was eye opening! It would be difficult to capture the experience of interacting with divers, paddlers, mountain climbers, skiers, climate change advocates, combat medics, both students and experts under one roof and in the span of three days. The breadth of experience and passion is unparalleled. The lectures were packed with knowledge bombs and more than a few laughs. Afternoon workshops brought together groups of diverse individuals to learn, engage, and establish professional acquaintances."
