Please join us for the WMS Marine Medicine Session in La Jolla, CA.  The 5 day session will focus on hazardous marine life, surf zone injuries, hyperbaric medicine, marine science, and water rescue. Medical professionals will earn 18.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This session is designed to fulfill the Marine Medicine requirement of the Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine .

Provide an overview of basic diving medicine. Provide a brief review of type of diving, barotrauma, Decompression Sickness Type I, Decompression Sickness Type II, and the role of treatment tables and hyperbaric therapy in the treatment of decompression sickness.  Provide an overview of dive physics in its relationship to dysbarism and barotrauma. Review mechanisms of injury and presentations of common types of barotrauma. Review presentation, stabilization and treatment of otic barotrauma, sinus barotrauma and lung barotrauma. Discuss differences between sinus barotrauma, middle ear barotrauma, inner ear barotrauma, alternobaric vertigo and ocular barotrauma. Review pulmonary barotrauma including pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum and AGE. Review mechanisms of decompression sickness, types of DCS and their presentations, as well as treatment.
