2024 Virginia Resident Elective

Participants will spend time participating in experiential learning, high-fidelity simulation and didactics. Based in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Roanoke, VA, with day trips outside the area.

Tuition includes two weeks of high-quality, hands-on education in wilderness medicine, select meals for day trips, final day cookout dinner, swift water rescue course and certification, technical rope course, discover scuba, and the opportunity to earn FAWM credits.

*Lodging, most meals, and transportation are not included.

You can expect:

 • Small group discussions of wilderness scenarios

 • Formal lectures of Wilderness Medicine principles and specific topics by leaders in the field

 • Instruction in survival and pre-hospital patient assessment and evacuation

• Scenario based medical and rescue training and mass casualty simulations

 

Cancellation and Refund Policy 

Written notice of cancellation must reach the WMS office. If applicable, refunds for cancellations will be provided according to the date that written notification is received according to the following schedule: If you cancel on or before July 16th, 2024, you will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be provided for cancellations after July 16th, 2024. The WMS cannot be responsible for any personal or travel conditions that may prevent attendance at the course.
