We will cover major viral hemorrhagic fevers, discuss their areas of endemicity, prophylaxis and treatments (where available), and highlight specific implications and precautions for adventure travelers (and their healthcare providers!)

Michelle L. Holshue, MPH, BSN, RN, WFR
Michelle Holshue is a public health nurse and an epidemiologist who has worked on various aspects of infectious disease control for over 15 years - from conducting clinical research and caring for patients with HIV, Hepatitis C, and Ebola, to emerging infectious disease preparedness and policy work. She is a Commander in the US Public Health Service, and currently works as a CDC assignee at the Washington State Department of Health. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors in the Pacific Northwest. She's climbed 3 of Washington's 5 glaciated volcanoes, and in the winter she volunteers as a Backcountry Nordic Patroller at Mount Rainier National Park.
