The Wilderness Medical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (a public charity for the public good beyond our membership) with a mission of promoting education, medical care, and research in wilderness medicine.
We are the only wilderness medicine organization with a focus on supporting wilderness medicine education through the Educational PowerPoint Lecture Series, video programs, and publication of Wilderness & Environmental Medicine journal, Wilderness Medicine magazine, and Practice Guidelines for Wilderness Emergency Care.
We are also the only wilderness medicine organization with a fellowship track, a research grant program, and an Environmental Council, to list a few of the many projects and committees sponsored by the Wilderness Medical Society that no other organization provides. We are sustained by contributions from our membership, which include membership fees and significant hours of work and in-kind contributions from members.
